HP and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE) today announced that SPHE will license select catalog titles from its vast home video library for production and distribution via HP’s DVD manufactured-on-demand service.

This agreement makes Sony the first major Hollywood studio to present its home video titles using HP’s service.  read more »

Sony will be coming out with a Blu-ray player for under $200. The only catch is that you must watch it on your desktop PC. However, if you have an older computer it probably won't have the necessary processor to run it well. In addition to the Blu-ray Disc playback, it will also have DVD and CD playback. The references have decreased recently, but it's still difficult to think about the battle between HD DVD and Blu-ray as anything but an evolution of the VHS vs. Betamax conflict, yet the war shows no signs of a cease fire, and even Sony CEO Howard Stringer has declared the battle a stalemate, to the chagrin of producer and consumer alike, but will the battle end decisively, and more importantly, would surrender benefit the consumer?
