Sony will be coming out with a Blu-ray player for under $200. The only catch is that you must watch it on your desktop PC. However, if you have an older computer it probably won't have the necessary processor to run it well. In addition to the Blu-ray Disc playback, it will also have DVD and CD playback. It will work with Windows Vista or XP.

This is definitely a step in the right direction. The price is considerably cheaper than most players. Now they just need to be able to produce a cheaper stand-alone unit, as watching on a desktop PC screen may not be practical for a family. Also, this drive will not burn DVDs. There is a PC drive that is also a burner, but it is $400 more than this one. If burning isn't important to you, then this $200 player may be just your thing.
