Goog-411: A dedicated button

If you haven't heard of Goog-411, grab your phone (Mobile or land-line), dial 800-466-4411 (800-GOOG411), and save it as a speed dial. More functional than most 411 or 555-1212 services, Google offers this little gem for free. I'm guessing it'll eventually include ads, but for now, this service will get you any business number you need and connect you for free. If you have T-Mobile's "MyFaves" service, make this number one of your "5".

GE DECT-6.0 Phone
To make it easy for those whose speed dial buttons are all filled or who can't figure out how to program their phones, Thomson and Google have partnered to add a "Goog-411" button to GE DECT-600 series phones. While this offers quick access to a great service, for all practical purposes, it's an ad on your phone. While mobile phone users have had internet buttons on many of their phones for years regardless whether they were subscribed to an internet plan, this seems to be one of the first ads on a landline phone. I'm not saying it's a bad thing--some ads are useful--but it's a landmark nonetheless.
